If you want to help...

Take all pricing samples in Ascalon City, American District. Collect the following information:

Date & Time sample was taken
Item being sampled (Black Dye, Parchment, etc)
Ask price from merchant
Bid price from merchant (if you have any inventory to check this price with).

I am interested in data on anything bought/sold from the Rare material merchant, material merchant, or dye trader. I am interested in data from any time. The more data the better.

Please put it in a spreadsheet so I can cut&paste it into mine.

Thanks

gotta admit this is an awesome guide alot of it is really helpful but my advice is acctually get in a group of people and try to get higher level because later on you can rake in about 3k in an 8 person group outside ember light camp and the ring of fire in 45 minutes.....

Sorry about the pictures, but I explained that earlier. >:P lol Nothing I can do about it.

I'll try and set up a spreadsheet some time to get that information. I'm old-fashioned...pen and paper, what can I say.

Ok, guild farming is a little different, and my intention was to start a whole 'nother thread for this and a couple other things, but I figure there are enough posts about this that and the other. I'm just gonna take over this little section of cyber-space and set some things out there for everyone in a single convenient location. Kinda like a 7-11. ^^ Gimme a little time to get my notes in order and I'll be sure to hook everyone up with the information I have.

Good hunting. ^^

i like this post 2, i'd like 2 add my 2 bits 2 this for u Monks and sub monks out there . U noe the gates of kryta mission? Well for those who doesnt noe about this i'll tell you. Go do it (assuming ur a monk) stack atleast 5 2 smite get warth of strength and balta's aura. Go find "Oink" get behind the far where he is infront of. Behind the far go down the hill u'll c 1 lonely hellbound. KILL it and an army of undead will come. DONT USE UR SMIT YET. WAIT for all of them 2 surround u then use ur smite. when you used both of them all of them should be dead if not kill them. then c wat u get LOADS OF ARMOR and gold. once ur done DONT GO YET there is a barrel waiting for on your far left. hope i helped. I didnt want 2 go into 2 much detail cuz im lazy. From here i make 400 gold in 2 min. not bad 11k-12k an hr not bad. DONT EXPECT 2 C NE PURPLE OR GOLD feel lucky if u get ne blue item. Anet nerfed this place already, but its still good for your leather and steel ingot material hunting and its much much faster then ne where else (if your a monk).

wow that was quite long. hehe oh well sorry for grammer. i jsut added period when i want 2 hehe.

For any farmers who actually make it to the Crystal desert (I skipped the last half of the first page and everything between to here, so forgive me if any of you have ) the Dunes of Despair mission has yielded me a gold weapon every time I have done it with my monk lately. Each of these I have sold for 10-20 platinum.
The first was a max dmg gold short sword. Sold for 20k to another party member.
The second was a near max dmg gold twin hammer. Sold it for 5 plat, 25 silk, and 25 parchment... equivalent of 10,500 gold.
The third was a lovely golden salvage item. Turned out to be a rune of major vigor, which I sold for 12 plat in LA. Which is pretty good considering I was getting only 8 plat for it at rune trader.

To the OP, nice job. That actually helped me out a lot. I made the run out of Piken's Square twice last night just to test the waters to the Dissea Lowlands zone and back last night - yielded me close to 25 Charr hides, ~50 Charr carvings and various other drops, mostly items that can be salvaged into Iron or Steel.

It's such a short run, for me just Sprint and Endure Pain handled it fine. I had my Strength high enough to get Sprint for 13 seconds though. Personally, I prefered doing the run from Beetletun, and just sprinting around all the caromi (and undead if you haven't done the hordes quest yet)... they will stop following once you get far enough ahead. With proper timing it's pretty easy to do and kinda fun too... felt kinda like being a running back going for a touchdown, lol.

Default Back to Basics - Another Long Elric Post

First of all. Thank you all for your input and kind words. I really appreciate it. ^^ It makes it all worth the effort.

Now, I've gotten a few messages asking for some stuff and I think I'm gonna take this back to the basics first. I'll try and keep tha stuff short and sweet, mostly 'cause I'd hoped I wouldn't need to explain the farming thing, but I'll do it anyway. ('Cause I'm such a nice guy. hee-hee)

Section One - Farming - "What's that?"

Farming is a simple and time consuming process. It's all about the money. (Insert bad Overstock.com commercial here) All farming is, is finding a location or object or mob that is easy to kill/access and continue to kill/loot for the simple fact of making money. All you do is rinse and repeat. That's farming. So I don't want to see another "Help Farming?!" or "What is Farming?" Thread again. If you have to ask that question because you can't Search the forums, you shouldn't be doing it. >:P

Section 2 - Builds - "I don't think that Axe goes with your outfit."

You can search the boards for dozens of builds. (Build, n - System or structure a character is designed around to serve a particular purpose(so don't ask me what a build is either)). There is no real right or wrong answer to what build to use when you farm. If it works for you, that's all that really matters. Find one that is interesting and fun for you, but just make sure it's effecient. Remember, farming is all about time management. Here are the one's I use.

W/Mo - Heavy Mellee Build
1) Zealot's Fire - AoE Damage
2) Shielding Hands - Protection
3) "Watch Yourself!" - Armor Bonus
4) Reversal of Fortune - Self-Healing
5) Shield of Judgment (Elite - Myd Springclaw - Mineral Springs - South Shiverpeaks) - Knockdown and Damage
6) Healing Breeze - Self-Healing
7) Mending - Health Regen
8) Balthazar's Spirit - Adrenaline and Energy Boosting

Basic build, this is one you can find almost anywhere on the boards. Until I got the Elite skill I used Retribution. Not as effective, but it worked for the time being.

W/Mo - DC Run(this one's for you Zman)
1) Sever Artery - Combat
2) Gash - Combat
3) Seeking Blade - combat
4) Bonetti's Defense - Energy Gain plus Defense
5) Sprint - Speed
6) Retribution - Damage
7) Mending - Health Regen
8) Healing Breeze - Healing

Ok, this one might seem weird. With Mending and Retribution, you have NO energy Regen. But that's what Bonetti's Defense is for. Slap that puppy on and don't use any skills until it either runs out or you have full Energy again. Great set-up for low level areas that you want to bash your way through w/o worrying about the casting time and the like. Retribution does the damage back and the rest is nothing but damage. I'm a sword person, can you tell?

Anyway, that is the build I use for the DC Run. Come in, kill the first few sets of Big Trees, then run past the Tenghu, pick up the barrel and Map home. That's how I do it and I get a pretty good drop set every time. So hopefuly that answers your question. ^^

E/Me - My first Character *weeps*
1) Whirlwind - Knockdown
2) Eruption - Damage + Blind
3) Inferno - PBAoE
4) Searing Heat - AoE Damage
5) Aura of Restoration - Health Gain
6) Channeling - Energy Gain
7) Ward Against Mellee - Damage Ward
8) Kinetic Armor - Renewing Armor Bonus

Ok, this is a little harder to manage. But do-able in small groups. You have to make sure you get your Kinetic armor and Mellee Ward up ASAP. Failure to do so will give you a nice lesson in the Ele's low AC. Use Whirlwind to knock peeps down, spit out a searing Heat since it has a long cast time, follow that with Eruption and sneak it in there if you can, if not alternate that. Then do Inferno to top off the set and repeat. Channeling should be cast at the start. Basicaly when I start it goes, 8, 7, 6, 5, wait to 50% Energy, 1, 2, 3, 1, 4, 3, and that usualy does it by then.

N/Mo - Zoo-Master!
1) Animate Bone Minions - Your Little Bombs
2) Death Nova - To be Cast on your Minions
3) Animate Bone Fiend - Main Damage Dealer
4) Blood of the Master - Minion Healing
5) Shadow of Fear - Slow Attacks
6) Mark of Pain - Share Damage
7) Healing Breeze - Healing
8) Offering of Blood (Elite - Riine Windrot - Thunderhead Keep) - Energy Gain

Another strange build that I haven't seen, but like I said, it works for me. Offering of blood gives you your energy back, Healing Breeze repairs the sacrifice. Soul reaping should take care of this, but sometimes you're in a spot and need some Energy fast.

As you can see, this is not a heavy combat Build. Your minions hsould be doing most of the work. I haven't used this build in a while so some thing smay have changed, but the idea is this. Makes two little minions cheap and fast. Throw Death Nova on them and let them die. Use that corpse to make th eFiend and repeat. Shadow of fear and MArk of pain are your two support spells when your horde gets bigger. And that's about it.

These are the builds I have used over the course of my farming career in GW. Feel free to sue or amend as you see fit. ^^

Section 3 - Group Farming - "Why can't we all just get along?" or "I may be schizophrenic but at least I have each other."

If you have a well organised guild or a guild taht doesn't mind farming every once in a while, then I have some good spots for you.

Kessex Peak - Fog Nightmare
This place is evil. Follow the path and you'll enter some little marsh/swamp areas. And yes, the water causes Disease or Plague or w/e the heck that annoying spell is. But here, you can hunt Fog Nightmare. Can anyone say Globs of Ectoplasm? From my experience, Nightmare class creatures are the only ones that drop them. And it's a rare occasion, but you can get plenty of other things in the mean time. So walk in, follow the path up to the first ridge, leave the area and repeat. You can solo it, but it can be very slow w/o a War/Mo build. So bring some Guildies and have fun.

Flame Temple Corridor to Dragon's Gullet - Charr and Hydras
A nice little party of lvl 10's can cut a path through here and end up with some pretty good swag. Plenty of Charr hides and the Hydras will drop some nice items. It's faster with more people at low levels. But if you are high enough, you can cut the path solo and make a massive amount of money for such small trips. Start at the Courthouse to make the trip more effecient, Piken Square is too far away.

Sanctum Cay - We love Giants
If Rune Farming is your bag and you're not high enough to solo this spot, take yourself a tank, a healer, a ranger, and a mesmer(yes, I said a Mesmer) here and have fun. Fight through, DOT the Hill Giants while the tank has it occupied, ranger does the ranged damage and uses the spirits for effects while the healer...well...heals. Giants are great for rune drops. ^^ *drool*

Riverside Provine - White Mantle Farming
If you have the Heavy Mellee Build W/Mo you'll have a blast here. Clearing out the first section of White Mantle can net you mass amounts of runes and items, not to mention the collector's items. ^^ If you can't solo it, bring some friends and clear it out. As always, soloing yields better items, but this IS a mission area. So having some backup migh tnot be such a bad idea.

Perdition Rock - Hydras
You HAVE to be a War/Mo build to do this. I am yet to see/hear/do this as any other class. At least do it solo. Hydras here drop some of the best items in the game w/o haveing to be in a mission area. Seriously, you can make bank out here.

Mineral Springs - Tenghu Farming
Plenty of Salvageable materials out here. Tenghu are evil though. However, some of the best Elite Skills in the game are found on the bosses in this area. Not to mention, you have to go through The Granite Citadel to get here. Tha tmeans you will have access to your first two sets of Elite armor.

UW and FoW - Strange Places
I've heard stories of farming here solo. I last only a little while solo with my W/Mo in FoW. The floaty thingies in UW usualy kill my W/Mo in seconds, so I don't go there. Either way, if you pair up a couple of tank/farmers in FoW you can go for a good ways before getting your butt handed to you. But spreading loot between two people is a lot better then 8. ^^

Section 4 - Crafting Materials - "I would like to buy a Fish License."

The main reason I keep pushing selling materials is because it's a consumed resource. EVERYBODY needs them, EVERYBODY uses them, and when they get used, they are gone.

Iron is for War's mostly. But whenever I get to ironing out the Charcoal farming, you can turn them into steel ingots...but even still, selling Charcoal is far more profitable.

If you come across a horde of creatures, always check it out to see what they drop, make a couple runs, keep track of the drops and see if it is worth your time. Always look out for crafting materials. Fur squares are really common things to farm(Fur Squares ~ North Shiverpeaks ~ Deldrimor Bowl ~ Centaur Hides + Expert Salvage = Some Furr Squares), the Elite Drops(as I like to call them) of Ectoplasm and Obsidian Shards should always be on your "look-out" list. If you ever see those, write down where you found them and come back later to check it out for potential farming.

Section 5 - Why We Do This - "Uncle Elric says..."Moooooo."

I get a few notes about "O God! You moron! You just ruined our farming spot!" or "Why are you sharing this information!?" or "Joo n00B! |>0n+ [email protected] my 133+ [email protected];n6 5p0+!!" etc etc etc. Seriously, it ain't that big a deal. Farming has been "nerfed" in every on-line game since the dawn of time and it isn't going to change now. And it doesn't get nerfed because we talk about it either. It's because there are people with 8 accounts, 7 with bots, and they pound the heck outta one location.

Farming is always a battle in and of itself, it's always boring and tedious, and it's always going to be that way...it's supposed to be. Farming is about patience. And luck. Sometimes you make the big score, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you come out ahead, and sometimes you really mess up trying to find a new spot to farma nd lose your money. It's a gamble, just like anything else. But most importantly, it's a game. I really do believe we should help each other and share these things with each other. Like I said before. ANet WANTS us to farm. If they didn't, there wouldn't be 15K armor. The least we could do is help EVERYONE learn to farm. And if it destroys the economy as many people argue. Then that means we get to invent a whole new way for on-line games to have an economy. ^^

Again, feel free to post or write if you need any help and I hope all these things work out for you. Good Luck and Good Hunting. ^^

I believe I got Zealot's Fire from a ghost at Augery Rock(Quest) and you can also buy it at Droknar's from the Skill Trainer.

Like somebody said before, Scoundrel's Rise is quick and easy. There are three groups of Mergoyles (and three Mergoyles in each group) outside the entrance to the Gates of Kryta. It's easy to round them all up and then kill them quickly, and it's good for experience (for me, anyway). The items are pretty standard, some blue items but mostly Mergoyle Skulls (I salvage these). Basically, it's quick and easy and fun to do.
